Because in Firefly, the ill-fated TV show made by the great Joss Whedon that the clip comes from, she has never seen a strawberry, let alone tasted one. They are so rare in her part of the universe that a character is able to use a tiny box of them as part payment for passage on the spaceship Serenity.
It's my considered opinion that the brief scene in which Kaylee eats the strawberry is one of the most erotic in the history of television. It's just a pity that in editing it down to a few frames for a .gif I can't prove that!
