No one's commented on the fact that it's impossible to have a download speed of more than an eigth of your connection speed for the reasons I sited above. Do people just ignore my posts?

security on wifi routers/links can easily be achieved, especially with products like net stumber to help find the loop holes.
most modern equipment have good firewalls with wap2 encryption and there are good 256bit encryption software tailored for wifi applications.

The only people to suffer hacking are those with outdated equipment, ofwhich there are millions, i,m afraid.

the speed depends on many things, one of which is the condition of the bt line. A good bt engineer will measure the impedance and charateristics of the path from one's home to the exchange. The s/n ratio + line attenuation also plays a part.

A simple change from one line to another often cures the problem...there are lines and there are LINES.

Just measured mine speed and is 8500 kbites/s.....thats 8.5meg..not quite 16...but getting there....need more tweaking for maximum smoke.
