I have contacted the Suppliers and they said they will replace it.
Learning always has a price....this time just a few quid and a few extra days waiting.

Dont like to mention it....but.....Splinter.....you were one of the people I asked about the HDD (Using the lingo now....aint I smart ? But obviously not that smart) And you reckoned it was good....it was good....but not compatible....oh well.

Well, spoke to a man who knows today. SATA and ATA should both work, but if your motherboard is IDE, which most still are, it won't. You need an IDE HDD.

Hope that's clear..................

And to clear myself, as I did not know what motherboard you had, how the hell would I know? You are there, I'm not.

No nasturtions meant.
Im Not there...you are....Im here.

I am now doing my research.....cos this is doing me ead in.
IDE- ATA- SATA.....some mean the same thing basically....some have been renamed retrospectively just to throw the likes of me off the scent, so have different names for the same bleeding thing.

I shall take my big picture of the mobo (smooth eh) down to my friendly local PC shop with the HDD and ask him for a connector .....before I do anything else.

Good luck. But you are on a learning curve and it's stuff you do not forget.

Strange......my stepson just popped in and said he knows a man who knows everything about PCs....and he is a nice guy.
I may just give him a call first.
Otherwise down the PC shop first thing......

Learning curve ? More like a helter skelter.....round and round and round and round in ever increasing circles.....then stop with a bang
