| Nothing to hide, then nothing to fear!
The spyglass is on you, but do you have anything to fear?
There has been growing debate post 9/11 about the introductions of tighter controls in our society whilst reducing some of our civil liberties in order to crackdown on crime, especially terrorism.
It is widely argued that ‘If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to fear’, in response to people who object to some of the new laws passed in the war against terrorism. People are left feeling foolish when they can only counter argue that such stringent measures are an invasion of privacy and simply erode our civil liberties. This is because it is becoming frowned upon whilst we are re-enforced that they are necessary.
However, the most significant point that is missed in this controversial contemporary issue is this: How do you know that eventually you will not have something to hide? Quite simply, if the future leaders of the world began to change their definition of words like ‘terrorist’, it could become so broad that it could even include anyone who opposes government policies in the war against terror. Now do you see how this could apply to you?
So no, perhaps some of you have nothing to hide for now, but you may well have something to fear in due course.

| Isnt that whats happening right now Casper. Anyone who goes against the flow is rediculed, but will eventually be arrested and jailed or disposed of.
This is how the KGB works....the have a very structured informer upon informer program, where anyone can be an informer.
I would say that within 5 years, we will begin to see a major crackdown on those who dont go along with the flow. |

| You are right, Bugsy, it is already happening. At least at present, there are still large numbers of people who defend our human rights. I'm just concerned at the way we are all susceptible into being manipulated into resenting our fundamental safe guards.
First, actions are taken or policies are made.
This then causes a problem.
In turn, people are influenced to react a certain way.
Eventually, a 'solution' is put forward.
After enough propaganda, the solution is accepted.

It's just a matter of time before people 'will eventually be arrested and jailed or disposed of'.
