8 months for Hoax

A drunk who claimed there was a bomb in Gatwick airport gets 8 months.

Someone on the News tonight said roughly (similarly.....not in a rough or aggressive voice)
Thats a long sentence for doing something silly
But what else are all other crimes...other than sillyness ?

His hoax was not acted on....he was obviously a nutter...the airport wasn't cleared.

Is 8 months too much....in the circumstances?

An 8 month custodial sentence is excessive when compared to those convicted of more serious offences whom get away with a mere 'slap on the wrist'.

Yes it is excessive...under the guise of a deterrent.

People who commit such crimes while drunk should serve out their sentance.. while kept drunk. Most people are much nicer and more sensible when sober. Either that or they should have bans on consumption of alcohol for the term of their punishment.
