Default Alcohol worse than ecstasy

On fist viewing it seAms that the argument is valid, that is the argument of which causes more deaths.

On the other hand there is the argument of age restrictions and funding of the "habit"

The current ABC system is for illegal drugs as far as i know so i will ask the old question of, are the government going to consider Tabacco and alcohol as illegal drugs?

Another absudity of the argument comes from the last paragraph of the link i will post...

Quote:
"[Our system] would be easy to use on a rolling basis, to reassess the harms of drugs as evidence developed," he said.
If "they" are so sure about their findings why do these clever c**** need a rolling basis? I think it is to move the goal posts when they are found to be wrong

If alcohol were to be invented today.....they would ban it.

There is no doubt that alcohol by far has the most harmful affect in people's lives.
The rolling basis is so that new apparently harmless substances can be reassessed over time when they increase in popularity and general usage.
Who would have thought a wee nip or a swift half on the way home would turn into the mayhem in most town centres on a friday night ?

And yet they still won't even entertain the concept of non alcohol nation...although i think you know me well enough to know i would not support this concept I would find it hard to defend on a logical side of things.

I have had the time to write the last paragraph(about 12 minutes) and think of the connotations of a nation in rehab...scary, and not by my standards but what i and i would imagine most of us have seen

There are many addictive drugs, i would suppose, that have been legalised for monetary gain.

They tried prohibition in the USA....all it did was take the production out of sight and into the hands of criminals.....bit like the drug trade now.

You cannot impose a total alcohol ban anywhere, even muslim countries have illicit drinking, anyone can make it in their kitchen.

There can be no doubt that the availability is forcing the issue today in the UK. Maybe when the novelty wears off it might slow down.....unless of course we have a generation dependent on it
