Default Ray Mears...

The next person to make a big impact Attenborough like...will be Ray Mears, in my opinion.
I watch his survival programs with great interest, tonight he was in New Zealand telling the tale of how two fellows got stuck up a mountain for 10 days ( I think) because of bad weather. One lost his lower legs due to frostbite.
The program ended with the guy making it to the summit 18 years later with his false legs........makes my life seem so humdrum...perhaps because it is?

I've yet to actually watch Ray Mears on anything, but I've heard good reports on him. I don't think there will ever be anyone as prestigious as Attenborough though, he's an institution in his own right, we're lucky to have him.

I like Tay Mears, but David Attenborough is in a whole other league. I tell you who I've rediscovered recently though, is Bill Oddy. Annoying though, I did this on the second from last programme in his current series. He's has an absolutely contagious passion for animals, and it's really inspiring.

I loved it when he was saying that if you asked him what the most amzing animal he'd ever seen was, it wouldn't be lions, whales, or polar bears, it would be a flock of Starlings at Sunset. You could see in his eyes how blown away he was by the specticle of it, it made you want to be there too. That's what I call a wildlife presenter.

Attenborough is ageing, and the beeb being the beeb bring on new talent...look how good Gary Lineker has become after a very poor start.
I would totally agree Atenborough is King, Mears would be his heir in waiting.

I find Oddy a little peculiar, I keep thinking he is going to break into a silly sketch......but he is genuinely into what he is doing.
