| Russel T. Davies (Torchwood) As if it wasn't bad enough that this man is almost souly responsible for making the new Dr. Who the big pile of pap it is. They've set him loose on an equally lame endeavour, known as Torchwood.
He's single-handedly proven that it's possible to create a Sci-Fi drama without adding one single grain of originality, and filling it with typical cliches. A secret agency that keeps their knowledge of Aliens a secret while fighting to save the Earth from them, they even have a scene where after the 'Agent' guy has shown the naive rookie around, he gives her something to make her forget all about it! Men in Black Anyone?
Why do the Beeb rely so heavily on this man to write their Sci-Fi, when he's clearly not got a clue about the subject, in fact I believe he even admits it!
Torchwood is a further embarrassment in the UK's contribution to sci-fi, while America is absolutely miles ahead. You'll find all the average special effects you can find in Dr. Who as well.
WHAT A LOAD OF ****!

| Sounds like our Will is a disappointed Sci Fi fan.....
Sorry to say I have never watched the famous new Dr Who, and I read that the new show Torchwood was an spin off of it, and decided I was going to take a look......as it came on last night on BBC3 I think.....we had youngsters present and as I had heard it was of an adult nature....so skipped channels.
It seems now like a good move Will.....so you dont recommend it then?

| Hey Will, seeing as you're a sci-fi fan have you ever read any of the books by Iain M. Banks? If you haven't you've got to. Start with the first, Consider Phlebus, then go through them as he wrote them, The Player of Games comes next.
There aren't many books that I've read twice but I've read most of his twice.
If you really like his writing style try his first general fiction book, The Wasp Factory. Then go onto his second, one of the best books ever written, it even compares with Nineteen Eighty-Four, Walking on Glass.
Iain Banks is a God! |

| I think Dr Who started well, but has gone downhill since, especially with the loss of the hunky Mr Eccleston.
Torchwood was very, very tacky. Rather disappointed |
