| British society is dripping............... So, thank God, Jade has been evicted. Imagine if she hadn't, that Shilpa had walked the plank? It would have represented a popular endorsement of flagrant racism. The extraordinary fact, of course, is that no one, or virtually no one, ever owns up to racism.
Part of an article about racism.....What are your thoughts ? Article

| Ill read the article later- too late tonight. But may make a quick post nevertheless. What is racism? Why are we so frightened by it in Britain? Hold on a minute, before someone goes mentle.. Im not saying its ok, or we should embrace it or what ever. Im saying for instance, is it possible that racism exists all over the world? In every country, in its own way? Has anybody wondered what is the reason for it as a human behaviour, after all humans are the ones doing it? What do psychologists make of it? Is it a relic of human evolution for example, or 'trible' behaviour?
What constitutes as racism? Is it overt racial descrimination and hatred, or a personally offensive comment made between two people from different racial backgrounds? Is it possible that racism is a 'oneway street' or can an ethnic minority actually be just as racist as a white british person?
It seems today, that racism isnt as riff as the media believes and seems to be nearly always wrongly diagnosed but is as common in everybody regardless of their origins. It would seem that if you dont join the ranks of the anti-racist police, you'll be shackled, flogged, publicly humilliated then caste into the pit. Its a witch hunt. |

| Did you read the article Splinter ?
You have to read it all in context...........(have we had this conversation ?)
Racism is the feeling that other races are inferior or superior to your own.
There are different levels of racism....from the out and out hatred of any other race, down to subtle unwitting and unknown prejudices from the most liberal minded people.
I recognise racism in myself.....and I am coming up to 9 years married to a black woman

| Then if thats true splinter, why is it when Janet Street Porter called a African Neighbour a 'fucking Bitch' because the neighbour asked her to move her car out of the road (while she was unloading shopping) she was arrested for racism? but when the reverse is done its just verbal abuse? |

Or did the police realise they'd made a mistake and let her go? And do you have a link? |

I dont honestly believe any altercation with someone of a different hue should be called racist..................that would mean we can never question any antisocial or questionable behaviour of anyone other than the same race as your own. Calling someone a "f*cking Bitch" is not unnormal in a heated arguement.Even referring to her colour would not be racist in my opinion......everybody has slagged someone off by mentioning a major characteristic such as "You fat Git" "Ginger idiot"......... Dont make them gingerist, fattist or clever just normal.
Janet Street Porter is a nasty bit of work though
