| I am still cautious of dogs but nothing as dramatic as your tale......
I was visiting a friend....walking up the alley between the two houses toward the back door....it was sultry hot...like this past week. The big lolloping dog lay panting, tongue lolling out of his mouth. The dog and I were both nervous of each other...I was entering his terratory....I stretched out my hand nervously ....in friendship.....just as he lurched towards me.
My hand plunged down his panting throat....his teeth dragging across my wrist as it went deep into his mouth....leaving a thick coating of drool.
We were both frightened.....he backed off...as I continued to the rear of the house shivering with fear.
He didnt even break my skin.....but......it scared the life out of me....I was about 9 or 10....and I still dont feel at ease with any animal....but I am not an animal person.
Congratulations on overcomeing such a traumatic encounter skinny....it is all about confidence.

| when i was 12, i was attacked by a gang of stray alley cats that emerged from the bins as i took a short cut thru an industrial estate. one wouldn't get its claws out of my leg, so i had to whack it against the metal bin. i think i broke its ribs. i didn't trust cats for some years after. they knew it too.
i don't talk about it much. i don't think people believe me.

It's the first time i've heard of this, i've seen it in the Serengeti and the likes, but cats hunting in packs down the back yard, that's a first for me....but hey, i believe you. |

| well it's true. there were 7 or more of them and they were definitely in cahoots. they didn't want me passing thru there. the noise was the scariest thing. then i was surrounded. i stopped still for a while (scared stiff) while they prowled in. then i bolted and they jumped at me. the rest was panic on both sides.
it was like they were protecting something. i often wonder if i stumbled in on a secret meeting -- a cat conspiracy to take over the world. or maybe they are like aliens who pick on little girls that nobody is gonna believe. or maybe they mistook me for a mackerel.

| Who knows? There might be something to the whole cat thing. I've never had a problem with cats, but they are natural preditors who are in the same family with lions, tigers and the like. Didn't the Egyptians worship them or something? I think they dod. In fact, every culture has its tales about cats. We even have a superstision about black cats. We don't have one about black dogs. Just a little sometLooking back at my previous message, I was horified at the number of mistakes I made. I have changed my screen reader settings just a bit with the hope that both my private and public messages will be readable and without all of those spelling errors.hing to think about.

| Sorry about all of those spelling errors in my last message. I'm not drunk and trying to type, I promise. I'm just dealing with a finicky screen reader who doesn't like to read when it's supposed to. You'd almost think it was human, it's so fussy. |

| Hi Maria,
Glad to see you're up and using the forums. I wouldn't worry about the spelling, it's comprehensive which is all that matters. I'm dyslexic, so I've never paid a great deal of attention to spelling anyway.
Welcome to the forums.
