You are probably right. Although it wouldn't be practical to enforce such a law I still think there is a genius idea out there to combat anti social binge drinking that no one has mentioned yet.

You know it's amazing the amount of bulls**t conspiracy theories that people come out with, that they seem to have all overlooked the one that is starting them in the face!

The government wants you getting pissed up to the max. Alchohol helps kill off an ever increasing population, dulls their mind so they can't think for themselves, zaps their energy so they can't be arsed to resist even the most extremely left-wing policies, oh and it helps pay the bills too!

Hey Bruv....you got more wrong than right .I will not enter into a debate about me for reasons i have stated before. As i didn't finish the comment before "you're good ,but not that good".

One thing i will say on your psychothingymajig is, although in that description you were just presuming, which is fair enough. Elsewhere in this thread you make the assumption you know what i'm thinking .i.e. worried, feel the need for response. It's not a reflection on you ,although you are guilty of it, but when people have a scary incident, or near death experience, and they say "your" life flashes before you,"you" freeze when this happens .How the flip do they know how a different person will react? I don't know any long words to explain this reaction.I'm sure you will explain.
This Geordie pal you spoke about. I would like to hear a bit more about him as you're making him out a bad man for going on the piss at the weekend, yet if i remember rightly, you don't call him a alchi. Is that because you were drinking with him and would therefore make you the same ?

You seemed to have a solid perception of an alchoholic when you pounced originally "you either are or you aint" have you relaxed this view slightly?

This is the quote where i first used the word denial

"Just to go back to UNITS per week according to them that know, i'm a alcoholic ,but i don't think i've got a problem....but i would say that i'm in denial."

wether you agree or not, it was meant slightly tongue in cheek. I was a bit ignorant to the psychowhatever meaning of DENIAL which is why i looked it up, in response to Sybs question.
There is also a clue to one of your psychobabble wrongs in the quote.

To finnish i would like to hear your discription of a alchi, if you would be so kind.

Population is the key word. Wouldn't we all have to be pissheads?

This thread is getting personal......I am only responding to your comment that you are probably an alchi.
Its a known fact you either are or are not an alchi.......its like being pregnant....you can be early pregnant....or early alchi....but its not a nearly thing.
It is your comments that have driven this thread......
Quote:
do you drink?
I do...quite a lot !
your first response.
Quote:
I suppose i'm not the best person to comment on this subject as i think i'm a alcoholic.... to a small degree...but an alcoholic all the same.
A later quote
Quote:
I looked into the units to point out that somebody has looked into it and worked out a threshold for being an alchi.Would you frown on me if had one pint over the limit every week?
There is no threshold that says you are an alchoholic......you can drink twice the so called limit and not be one, and drink half the same limit and be a real down and out alchi.
Its the dependency that makes someone an alchoholic not the amount comsumed.
The way you talk you are a big consumer....but that doesn't make you an alchi.
I never made out my geordie friend as a bad guy....think I said he was a nice guy.He was a sad guy though, very sad.
I saw the photos of his wife and kids, and heard the way he spoke of them.He had 2 grown up lads, one was sporty, and doing well, his wife was a cracker, worked in the Tax Office.......he was still in love with her....he had lost her respect and that of his boys that he was so proud of....there may have been other reasons.....but I got the impression it was down to drink. He would have a can or two most nights......but come Friday night (if he wasn't working Saturday) he would roll up most times very very late, fall out of a taxi, then take ages to find the front door key (My room was facing the street) He was banned from several bars in our small town because he never knew when to stop.Sober .......a lovely man.I only ever went out with him once or twice both were embarrasing.

To be honest I have no idea if you are alcohol dedendant or not....it was you that said you were an alchi. If it was a joke or said tongue in cheek....its in poor taste.....alchoholism is no joke, especially if you are one, or related to or live with one.
I do enjoy a drink.....drink a bottle of red several times a week.....drinking a can of beer as I write this. But could never be called dependent....hope I would know and stop before that happened....but who knows?

The offside law is now down to whether the referee thinks he is or not offside.Or if the offending player is gaining an advantage by being in that position........or something like that

Bruv if you think this is getting personal, i apologise, and apologise for that alone. As for calling you a prick, if you were sat next to me at the time, thinking about it , you might have picked up on my tone of voice and actions and realised i didn't mean it aggressively. I hope you believe me, but will not kill myself if you come back at me with a sharp rebuke.

As for my sense of humor, i've toned it down, but i know where you could bye one.

There are somethings i could pick up on in your last post, but won't. I think it was me who started our little tangent, so it is I who will bow out ungracefully.

Your call

Skinny I was thinking it was you that had taken this as personal not myself......

The problem is on here you cannot "read" voice tone, or get facial expressions.....so an ironic or comedic retort is just another sentence, unless used with a smilie.

I found your remark.........

Quote:

.......extremely funny........for the wrong reasons I expect....its hard to know if humour was intended.

This thread has probably run its course, poseing more questions than can be answered.....
Bowing out too........

Alcohol is a drug, which is responsible for many deaths a year in Britain, yet some illegal drugs are responsible for virtually none.

If you had to choose one or the other, would you:

- Ban all intoxicating drugs including alcohol; or
- Legalise all drugs?
