| Children's sexual health confidentiality laws MP's war on underage sex - Parenting - AOL Lifestyle The UK has the highest number of sexually active children aged 15 and under in Western Europe, an MP claims.
Angela Watkinson, Tory MP for Upminster, wants to give parents rights to know before their child has an abortion or contraception.
Although this may be seen as an invasion of privacy for children, the fact is that they are children so perhaps parents should be informed.

| Hypothetically now, if your daughter fell pregnant at 14 and she wanted to have am abortion, do you think you ought to be informed by the child’s doctor about the issue or should she have the lawful right to privacy?

| I am very old fashioned.....I think.
How can a child not be criminally responsible until ? 16 ?
Or at least sexually active legally , and expect privacy ?

I'm sorry Bruv, I don't think I understand your point. What did you mean?

| A young person is under parental control and under the age of consent until they reach the age of 16 ?
So anything that concerns their welfare should be made available to their parents, including contraception and abortion.
The same child taking a school trip must have their guardian sign over their medical care.
Medical confidentiality muddies the waters....there should be no such confidentiality for under age children

| O.k, I was confused about your point on age of criminal responsibility which was wrong.
Apart from that, what you say is totally true and it's a good point. Anyone object?
