My wife is the daughter of a Manchester Jewish mother and an Austrian Jewish father who narrowly escaped the Nazis. Although an atheist in many respects she's Jewish, as it's ingrained into her, and our kids have inherited Jewish characteristics. Yet in all other respects she's English: heck, she used to be a border Morris dancer!
Problems arise only when people wish their imported culture to become the dominant one, as they believe it to be superior in some way.
