Default Drug Tests

I read a letter to the editor of an American paper last week and forgot to post it. The gist of it was that some lines of employment means you are liable to have a drug test.

So, in England there are some lines of work where you are obliged to take random drug tests, the railways for one instance, and in the construction industry there are some mane contractors that stipulate that if your company does not agree to have random drug tests it will not get the contract, simple as.

My point is that if workers have to prove they are fit to earn their pay why not let doleites prove they are fit enough to earn their handouts.

I am pretty sure that none of our emergency services have to take drug tests, why?

I especially want the police to take them.

What are your thoughts on the rights and wrongs of it?

I suspect the Emergency services are seen to be above suspicion.
People who hold the lives of others in there hands such as train and bus drivers should be liable to be tested at anytime in my opinion.....

Reminds me of the time I travelled back from Scotland after New Year on a Coach.....I was in an aisle seat and could see the driver's face in the mirror.
He seemed to me to be mesmerised by the movement outside.....his head kept half turning as if he were counting the passing lamp posts or something.....I thought he might have had a heavy session the night before.I mentioned it to the Guy who brings the coffee around.....unofficially......just to keep an eye on him...........so they covered the mirror.
Never ever again will I travel on them Coaches

I think that's agreat idea, but does that include students as well, not that it would affect me mind you but I know some it would.

I do know they do random drug testing in the army.
