I think we are digressing from the original post here Relic, perhaps you would start a new thread, or has it already been done to death. | I was saying that many British people fear immigration. I didn't say that I did.

| Oh, if I've got to be specific, Schroedinger, Bohr, Planck, Einstein, Watson, Crick, Stravinsky, Picasso, Porter, Gershwin(s), Ellington, Rodgers, Presley, Lennon, Dylan, McCartney. And Hitler.

| Planck was the originator of quantum theory. If mankind survives I'm sure he and those who ran with his vision will be lauded as among the first to grope towards an understanding the true workings of the universe.
Four people killed God, whether they had any intention of doing so or not: Darwin fired one shot, Planck fired another, Einstein a third, and then Hawking came along and buried the squirming remains.

| From a future historians point of view, be that 500 or 5000 years into the future I think you are all right but what about the non-historian, those that do not learn history in detail but just the important dates? What do you think the average person will comment on or consider the most famous/interesting person of the 20th century?
I actually believe Einstein will be more remembered than Hitler, time heals in that respect. Napoleon was a massive threat in the early nineteenth century but I'm pretty sure if you ask the average teenager who he was they would say a French geezer that was in charge of an army a couple of hundred years ago, Hitler has taken his place in memory but someone else will take Hitler's place.
I still think there is one more person who will be remembered above all the previous suggestions.
It might help to look back a few centuries. What name pops into your head first when you think of the 13th century, 14th, 15th, 16th etc.
However, my suggestion is my personal opinion. |
