What do people think, that is the most momentous thing to happen in British history? I ask this, because personally, I think it is the industrial revolution. the advances that where made in steam power and hydraulics, combined with the Victorians building program; had its influence throughout almost the entire world.
We would have been so much the poorer without the innovations of "Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Robert Stevenson, and the work ethic of the Victorians. |

The Industrial revolution transformed the world, so it should be up there, however, without imperial expansion there would have been less production so less chance of time saving machines and equipment being invented at that time. |

Yep, Tim Berners Lee, I have abused his name on a yank forum site many a time. You know.....
yank: Why don't you piddle off to a Brit forum.
Moi: Why? The net is for everyone, don't you like to hear the truth?
yank: Ha, stupid Brit, if it wasn't for us you wouldn't be able to use the net.
Moi: Get your facts straight dipshit, if it wasn't for the wonderful Sir Tim Berners Lee (lovely British man) you wouldn't be able to use the net.
Silence........................................... .....thread won. |
