In Seriousness, I was an anti-royal for a short while, until I realised that this country would be less interesting and wouldn't bring as many tourists in if it wasn't for them, some of them do some good work too. I now just think we should get rid of all the minor royals, who are just a drain on society.

As for the Queen, happy birthday Queeny! Is this her real brithday or official one?

So why does republican France have at least as successful a tourist trade as Britain? Why does the Republic of Ireland have a proportionately more successful one?

Doesn't such a "quaint" institution cause the world to patronise us and see us as retrogressive? Aren't the antics and squabbles of these buffoons subject to daily perusal and ridicule in the world's press? What do you make of the fact that during the last visit of Elizabeth Windsor to America she wasn't even a "fashionable ticket"?

More crucially, doesn't the fact that we elevate and enrich a family according to birth belie the very notion that this country is a democracy?
