You can discipline without using the cane. Just make sure the bastards follow the streight forward rules or thell be disiplined (in some way apart from caning).

It always sent me up the bloody wall when some stupid teachers employ the bizzare method of rewarding the delinquent kids for doing the slightest f-ing thing! Surely they should reward the kids that are pulling their weight?

To an extent Bruv, a good teacher should pick up on the learners and the delinquents(if that's the right word) and attribute their time accordingly. Relying on statistics is a bit of a cop out.

Please bear in mind i dispised teachers almost as much as the police.....so i am slightly baised......blame it on poor teaching

Exactly. There are some teachers who are hard-line and inspire fear in people just be being very strict, and don't even need to use detention in order to punish people...merely being scolded by them does the trick.
Unfortunately most young teachers now are sissies.
