No, it's to prevent minds being cluttered with supernaturalist, unfounded twaddle, like yours has been and help them to think about the true nature of life and its place in reality instead of going to church, kneeling and mumbling pointless incantations at some being that isn't there and wouldn't care about a skin disease like humanity even if it was.

my take:

we are living in unsteady times.
a lot of people need a rock to hold onto.
that's an instinctive reaction to times of high-level disinformation.
our leaders know and bank on this.
then they can promote the good old stories, to lull us back to sleep, to sheep.
but the evidence only shows flux and change.

leave all 'evidence' aside: sit in a room by yourself and meditate for a long period (a week if you can), away from tv and internet. and listen to your body: the whole of human history is living inside you. feel the truth.

I wish the Earth was flat, because presumably Australia would be on the flipside, and therefore would have been inaccessible until the onset on space travel, and then only in a limited way. That would mean no Australian soaps on our screens, no talentless Australian soap "stars" to flounder their way through panto season with the British cast covering for them, no British kids being influenced to use a rising inflection in such a way that every sentence they utter sounds like a question, no Clive James to be infinitely less clever than he thinks he is, no Dame Edna Everage to labour the same joke for decades and certainly no Kylie Minogue, to become a creature who is somehow hailed as "sexy" despite having a body that is more than a little reminiscent of that of a praying mantis and as "talented" by those who have never heard her sickly, thin little voice before pitch correction and multitrack bolstering.

Sorry. I'm supposed to be working but I'm blocked and that makes me quixotic for some reason.

I've got to agree with you about Australia. The thing that gets me the most about them is their hard-line stance with immigrants. What a cheek they've got, they're all relatively recent immigrants themselves. And the way they treat the indigenous population of the island is a disgrace.

If the world were flat though they would never have got there in the first place, unless the Earth's surface were stretched out like you see in an atlas, but we're being silly here. We'll be saying the Earth was created in 7 days next, now that is silly, pythonesque even.

Its a disgrace that it and it alone can be trown at people as being the whole truth.....

The reason evolution is taught in schools is because it's backed up by science, creationism is backed up by unfounded belief something along the lines of believing in fairies.
Don't tell me you believe in those too.

hogwash.what backing by science........what are they measuring references against? Their own theories or have they been back in time.
Every theory they use as evidence for evolution, is just that theories.

It does not prove anything......no-one has been back in time to validate their theories and models.

sid ...you cannot blame them on being immigrants..its their ancestors you need to blame. Quit passing he buck for things that happened hundreds of years ago on present people.what do you think would happen if you took all the white people out of africa..........and gave africa back to the black people........total chaos.....and who would you send in to clean up the mess afterwards...white people or black people ?
