How about deporting ALL who dont work (Brits and all)...that would be millions thinks I, that would put the country on its feet over night.

The status of immigrants varies....Students for instance, are here to study,Some are supported from their homeland via government grants, wealthy parents etc. They are allowed to work something like 18 hours a week. And take up jobs in Mc Ds or Burger King. Some actually study as minimally and hold full time jobs....doing shitty jobs.

Asylum seekers whether you agree or not with their right to remain are a different kettle of fish. They are given a subsistance payment and are not supposed to work at all, while their cases are under review. Most if refused asylum, appeal, knowing they can stay longer due to a backlog of outstanding cases.A lot of these people are genuine, escapeing oppression of different kinds, and are here to make new lives.A great many work in the so called black market for low wages doing the jobs that Will calls shitty, and bolstering our economy by so doing.

Illegal Immigrants...as a rule normally work in the black market also, and due to their status need to work as they have no recourse to public funds due to their lack of any National Insurance Numbers. These people are also helping our economy doing the said shitty jobs for poor pay and in poor conditions. There are of course the hard core illegal that is in possession of illegal documents and milks the country for all they can....these are the ones we should worry about....but I believe they are in he minority....unless someone can prove their not of course...and that would be difficult due to their status....they dont fill in their census forms.

So who is it that you want sent back?

The fact you would turn i blind eye to somebody robbing our country for peanuts makes me think would you watch a granny being robbed in the street for peanuts?
look mate i don't give a toss about any of these things if you've got to bend the rules to feed your family then i'm blind as a bat! these are my

mummblings please don't take offence.

i thought all tea came from TESCOS!!

I never said turn a blind eye to anybody, I said ...we can afford it...repaying a debt overdue for many years....and that they are still actually helping this countries economy by working here, the relatively small amounts that they send home dont hurt this country.

Wish you would spend some time checking your commas full stops and line breaks....makes your comment hard to follow

A good start would be on asylum seekers who should of been deported years ago. Then they should deport those who dont work and pay their way.

Companies who make massive profits and pay low wages should be forced to up their wages to above the current minimum levels...say £10/hour

There is a load of things that can be done, but no-one in government is prepared to put their heads on the block.

Who decides that they should have been deported? The removal process is long and drawn out, with appeal after appeal..............and being British the authorities always give the benifit of the doubt to any marginal cases. All undecided cases that means every asylum seeker who's case is pending "leave to remain" are not allowed to work under the terms of their application.......many do however.Boosting our economy.

If succesful companies are compelled to raise wages because they are succesful, they will not be competitive and so wont be succesful.

What you describe is communism....your friend big brother's mate.

On the previous version of this forum you said there were people where you work who were loaded with degree's [sic] but couldn't spell. Relic was pointing out your atrocious grammar. Fair game as far as I'm concerned. It'd be like me calling someone a sexist, then complaining when someone calls me one.

In post #14 of this thread you said: There is a load of things that can be done. It should be, there are; things is plural.

I really don't mind reading someone's posts that aren't grammatically correct, but when that someone criticises his superiors for their spelling and maths then you leave yourself open to criticism; and you come out with s**te!

The occasional spelling/grammar mistake is mainly due to my two fingered approach to typing and I wonder if you know which two fingers Sid ?
By all accounts, I am not as bad as a colleague who struggles with the most basic of words.
There is a big difference between minor mistakes ( we all make at times) and a total lack of profficiency.
