Default Labour Revolt against Tony!

It's the start of a political coup which is more then likely to see the end of Tony Blair. At the very least he should say when he's leaving. This must be doing damage to Labour.

I think we should have another GE as soon as he resigns, we didn't elect Gordon Brown.

I was thinking, wrongly maybe, that he was holding on towards the end of the term so that by bringing in a new leader they might get an increase in their popularity, after all, they need something.

As for Gordon Brown just being made leader after Tony goes I don't see that happening. There was a Labour MP on Breakfast TV this morning that there would have to be an election within the party for a new leader, and he wouldn't be drawn on the question of whether that would be Gordon. Are there more twists to this tale?

Bugsy reckons its a plot...............

But seriously, we dont elect a Prime Minister we elect a party....so it is up to the party to put forward a new leader. It shouldn't be decided behind closed doors though but internally within the Labour party....Brown has never been deputy PM even..... has he?
If the Conservatives were clever enough couldnt they force the issue....Im not sure how it works to be honest.....or would it need to be a revolt within the Labour party ?

John mcdonnell has already said he will stand against Brown and fair play to him. Why should we go back to the years of Wilson, Thatcher etc where somebody else just picks up the reigns ?

Could be wrong....but I have never known the leadership to be just handed over.......not without an internal election
