Have just watched one of his last shows. What a loss to the world of entertainment he was. It may be just me but the Lancashire accent and people come accross as some of the more friendly in England. I have always found him a pleasure to listen to and have learnt a lot from his shows. God ( if there is one) bless you Fred.

He was just a natural....he enjoyed what he did and conveyed that enjoyment to others....you cant fake that, that was his talent

You used to see him driving around in his Land rover,that's straight up as well. And do you know what? You get these people who become aloof when they're famous. You could wave at him, he had his name on the side of the Land rover, a bit big-headed I know but hey.... I digress. Anyway, I think he must have spent most of his time waving back to people. What a really nice bloke he was.
Don't mention the funeral either. It was like the whole of Bolton turned out to see him go through the streets on the back of one of his beloved engines.

He's one of the few television presenters I've seen who had a genuine passion for what he was doing. A real gem.

I know that, but while he was going from one job to the other he still had the time and inclination to say hello to people who thought they knew him.

Talking of people who think they are stars. I once met Sinbad off Brookside. Me being me I tried to strike a conversation up with him, I was in the queue behind him at Marks's Cafe in Warrington.

When he got to the till there weren't any chips left. He asked them in what I thought was a tone that wasn't very nice if they would bring them over to his table. They said they would. When I got to the till just after him I asked the same and they said no. I asked them why they said he could and i couldn't they told me that was Sinbad. Like it was something special or something.
What a fat miserable twat he was.
