I saw a secretly filmed documentary on the place some time ago and it looks like living in a hell hole. They dont just lock up one person for speaking out they lock up a complete familly. State run everything. Not much food unless you run the gauntlet of crossing the river that runs along the border between the North and the South with the chance of being swept away or shot by border guards. How can they get away with it in this day and age ?

Because they are a land that does not rely on anybody else (so sanctions won't work) and they do not (and will not) sign up to any human rights agreement. If I was america I'd be shitting myself and would stop playing with Iraq! I wrote about this country a little while ago in another thread. These people are seriously off their heads and really don't give a fuck about anybody else and they HATE America with a passion!
